Escape to a stunning mountainous peninsula for a blissful week of sun, sea, sound & yoga
Imagine a place that offers rugged mountains covered with indigenous forest and rocky coves plunging into turquoise, crystalline seas. Imagine a place with authentic, contemporary quaint villages and fascinating ancient history. Imagine a place abundant with organic produce, wine and olive groves in picturesque settings and a small, local community dedicated to sustainability. This is Pelion, Greece’s best kept secret and the venue for a late summer yoga and sound bath retreat, hosted by Nina Butler and Natalie Gond. You are invited to join us for a week of blissful movement, sound, silence, rest, sun, play and Greek food! What more could you ask for? It’s simple and beautiful and utterly unmissable.
Anticipate a journey with…
Our private Greek village
Pelion is a majestic mountain rising up on a hook-like peninsula between the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea north of Athens. Clinging to the edges of the dramatic slopes that plunge into the sea are indigenous forests and quaint Greek villages, bustling with life and ancient tradition. Our retreat venue is a unique collection of refurbished historic Greek homes that form a retreat village and connect to a private restaurant, gardens, and yoga shala.
A secluded setting
Pelion is nestled on the eastern edge of the Greek mainland and remains a hidden gem. There is none of the destructive tourism that is unfortunately so common on many of the Greek islands. The villages are authentically inhabited by locals and the stunning, sparkling beaches remain quiet, clean and calm. Anticipate all the charm of Greek island life, without the crowds.
Uplifting yoga
Throughout the retreat Nina will lead us in daily soulful yoga sessions that are tailored to the group’s needs and experience level. From the spacious and well-equipped shala with views over the mountain and sea, we’ll greet each morning in mindful movement and meditation. Nina will also be collaborating with Natalie in bespoke yin and sound bath experiences in the evenings to wind down and cultivate mellow vibes for deep, restful sleep.
Indigenous forrest immersion
The mountains on the peninsula are thickly forested with deciduous and perennial forests of beech, oak, maple and chestnut trees. There are also olive, apple, pear and plane tree groves found near natural springs and sources of water. We will embark on a guided hike in these beautiful mountains leading to a quaint mountain village for a strong Greek coffee and pastry to refuel us before taking a winding contour path back (all fitness levels can be accommodated with alternative routes).
Elevated sound experiences
Natalie will be leading deeply relaxing sound baths every day on the retreat. The immersive sounds of Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, gongs, and other instruments will allow for deep relaxation and meditation. Collaborating with the elements in the open air shala adds a connective dimension to nature, which deepens the benefits of the sound bath. This process not only ameliorates stress, insomnia, but even rebalances the central nervous system. Natalie will also be offering private bookings and one-on-one treatments, including, Sound Massage and Ayurvedic Facial Massage.
Sustainable, local cuisine
Our retreat venue has organic gardens that produce excellent quality fruits and vegetables most of the year. The region is also renowned for excellent produce, including olive oil, wine, dairy products, charcuterie, and seafood. Over the week together we will thrive on truly farm-to-table regional and seasonal cuisine. All meals at the retreat venue will be vegetarian, and for those who want to experience local seafood and meats, we will visit a local restaurant for a fun Greek evening!
Your InRetreat guides
InRetreat founder, Nina integrates poetry, personal transformation and unique insights to her practice, enriching body movement with meaning. Her classes are playful, flowing and accessible to all levels, offering an inclusive space where everyone can discover their own personal edge and cultivate presence in a grounding and nourishing atmosphere.
Each day on retreat Nina weaves themes into the Vinyasa and yin sessions that are linked to the venue, seasons and history of the region. Over this retreat Nina will share insights into Greek mythology and link this to the present in a practical and accessible way. Pelion itself is layered in classical myth; it’s namesake mountain was the land of the centaurs. Through Nina’s reading of Greek mythology, the landscape will come alive for us in the present.
Natalie Gond blends the use of her voice and various singing bowls and other instruments as tools for mental repose and spiritual exploration. Using voice and sound for deep healing is a practice rooted in ancient traditions, and it can be incredibly powerful in promoting relaxation, emotional release, and physical restoration.
Each day on this retreat, Natalie will blend ancient vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls seamlessly with the natural rhythms of the earth. Surrounded by the gentle sounds of wind rustling through the trees, birdsong, and the distant sea below, allow yourself to be enveloped by the healing tones of singing bowls, gongs, chimes, and other sacred instruments. This serene, multi-sensory experience offers a perfect union of sound and nature.
